TPU Filament
Flexible filament, great for rubber-like solutions and shock-absorbing parts
TPU filament stands for thermoplastic polyurethane, which is also called TPE or thermoplastic elastomer. TPE occurs in many compositions that differ slightly from each other, but TPU is the most common among them. It is an elastic material that can be easily stretched and bent. The easiest material to print parts that require some flexibility.
Composition
TPU filament can be best described as the even ground between hard plastic and silicon, because it combines the properties of both materials, which makes it flexible yet able to retain its form, and it hardly scratches.
Choose your own stiffness
As mentioned, TPU filament is perfect for printing flexible parts, but this does depend on the settings in your 3D printing software. The lower the infill is that you use, the more flexible the 3D print will be. This makes TPU perfect for printing objects that need to be more elastic or more rigid. You decide!
