PC is a plastic that softens when heated, but it requires very high temperatures before it melts and can be printed. It has a high glass transition temperature of 150°C, which means that it retains its structure up to that temperature. PC delivers very reliable performance under pressure and high temperatures. It is heat and impact resistant and when printed properly, very rigid. The slight flexibility of PC allows it to bend without breaking, which can be useful in many applications.

PC is best printed in a 3D printer with a closed case and a heated print bed. Because of its high temperature resistance, PC is ideal for parts that need to be strong and rigid, as well as parts that need to be heat-resistant. PC is well suited for electronics or lighting enclosures because it can withstand heat but can also be transparent.
