What is Wood Filled PLA?
The term 3D printing wood filament does not sound very intuitive, as wood cannot be melted. However, engineers found a great solution to achieve wood-like textures on 3D printed models by combining wood dust with PLA. This combination merges the customizability of 3D printing and the aesthetically appealing nature of a wooden finish.
Wood filament is a blend of traditional PLA material and wood chips, powder, and dust, that keeps its PLA 3D printing features while providing a more natural feel.
Just like Normal PLA, Wood filament is easy to work with and provides great reliable results. However, it is slightly softer than pure PLA as the wood particles' softness affects the overall stiffness of the material. Wood models have wood-like texture and are aesthetically appealing.
Wood is used in any application that requires custom made, wood-like parts, such as furniture and sculptures, however, it can also be used for toys, gadgets, and decorative pieces.
